BOSTON – On January 13th, Senator Sal DiDomenico attended the unveiling of “The Embrace” in Boston Common. Attendees included the family of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., elected officials, and leaders from across Massachusetts and the country. This beautiful memorial commemorates the legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Coretta Scott King, who met and studied here in Boston. The sculpture depicts their embrace after MLK received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

“It was an absolute honor to witness the unveiling of this beautiful and important sculpture,” said Senator DiDomenico, Assistant Majority Leader of the Massachusetts Senate. “Their legacy lives on today and every day because of the sacrifices they made to advance civil rights, combat racism and discrimination, fight for equity, and preach love for each other. I am proud that we have such an important memorial in our community that reminds us of the equitable and inclusive world we must continue to work toward.”

BOSTON – On January 5th, Senator DiDomenico, accompanied by family and friends, attended Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll’s inauguration at the State House and celebration at the TD Garden. The momentous Garden celebration included performances by musical groups from throughout Massachusetts including the Everett High School Marching Band.

“I want to congratulate my friends, Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, on their historic inauguration,” said Senator DiDomenico, Assistant Majority Leader of the Massachusetts Senate. “It was great to see so many friends joining the celebration and witnessing the musical talents of Grammy Award winner Brandi Carlile, our very own Everett High School Marching Band, and so many other wonderful performances. I cannot wait to partner with the Healey/Driscoll team to accomplish great things for the residents of the Commonwealth.”

BOSTON – On January 4th, Sal DiDomenico was sworn in for his 7th term as Massachusetts State Senator for the Middlesex and Suffolk district. DiDomenico’s district now includes all of Charlestown, Chelsea, and Everett, and half of Cambridge.  

Senator DiDomenico has passed a wide range of legislation since being first sworn in over 12 years ago. These laws have provided funding for community organizations, school programs, and public projects in the district, expanded access to nutritious foods, supported working families by increasing cash benefits, fought back against the climate crisis, spurred economic development, protected our environment, and so much more.

“It is an incredible honor to be sworn in for another term as a Massachusetts State Senator,” said Senator DiDomenico, Assistant Majority Leader of the Massachusetts Senate. “I want to thank the residents of Cambridge, Charlestown, Chelsea, and Everett for your confidence and trust in me once again. We have accomplished so much together, but there is still a lot of work to do, and I can't wait to continue fighting for everyone in my district and across our Commonwealth.”

Senator DiDomenico later joined his colleagues in unanimously voting to re-elect Karen Spilka as Senate President for the upcoming legislative session. “I was proud to vote for my friend, Karen Spilka, to continue leading the body as our Senate President. Senate President Spilka has been an incredible leader and I look forward to my continued partnership with her in the upcoming session.”
